So on Tuesday, we went to see the last Harry Potter movie. We'd wanted to see it for a while, and we figured the crowd would have died down a little. The parking lot was pretty full, so we thought there would still be a decently sized group there to see the movie.
When we walked into the 6:30 PM showing, there were maybe ten people there, including us. Then Mark noticed that the movie didn't sound right, so he went to talk to the manager. Turns out that the center channel speaker had blown, which the girl selling tickets didn't tell us about.
Luckily, the manager was kind enough to tell us that we could come back for a later showing in 3D, at no additional charge. Neither of us really likes 3D, but we really wanted to see the movie so we went back for the 9:30 showing.
We were the only people there.
It was weird, but we didn't mind much. No children kicking our seats, no cell phones going off, no obnoxious people to deal with.
We enjoyed the movie but found ourselves wondering just how was this 3D. It didn't look 3D at all. It was way too subtle, and the focus angles were all messed up. Mark insists it was the theater's fault, but I think the camera they shot it with wasn't focused properly. It wasn't like the whole thing was fuzzy; there would be one spot on the screen that was focused perfectly while the rest just looked wrong.
I enjoyed the movie, but I'm glad we didn't pay extra for the 3D. It wasn't worth the extra charge.
